From: Neusiedlersee Wine Region, Austria. Light gold in appearance, with delicate aromas of rose petal and lychee. An elegant presentation of tropical fruit and pear with the perfect balance of acidity, light toasty vanilla and slight creaminess. Nice mouthfeel with a lingering finish that entices you for more. Can cellar for 5 years. Fermented and stored in oak barrels for 3 months then transferred to stainless steel tanks. These vines are grown in gravel. Pairings: Asian cuisine, asparagus, light cheeses. An astoundingly popular varietal, this wine is less austere than many PGs. It displays enjoyable fruity tones of fresh, ripe honeydew melon, smoky pear and a hint of apple on a crisp finish. Enjoyed it at Allens Restaurant on Danforth in Toronto. My favourite English Pub.
A charming Bordeaux with fruity, earthy and subtle spicy aromas. A very nice nose. A light wine with nuances of black and red berries, subtle cherries, raisins and vanilla. Many of the aromas continue in the flavours with additional notes of ultra ripe strawberries. Light tannins. Smooth finish. It’s a round wine. Delicate, lively and easy to enjoy. Joe called it “An elegant silky seductress!” 60% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc, 30% merlot. Not oak-aged.
I just hosted Gerhard Wohlmuth Jr on his first trip to Canada. We visited potential restaurant clients and set up distribution in Ontario.
