The blue curvy neck is just the beginning of its unique qualities… I say yes to Si Pinot Grigio 2010. From the Pavia wine region in northern Italy, this wine has golden straw colour and sensuous, rich tropical fruit aromas. It continues with sweet luscious notes of apricot, lime and a whisper of sea salt. It finishes with a lingering winsomeness.
Pair with cheese and paté, white or red sauce pastas, pizza, seafood, or Asian.
My top pick in a Pinot Grigio of this price category.
LCBO 269894. $13.20.
The Foreign Affair Winery ‘The Conspiracy’ Cabernet Sauvignon, ’10. Made in the ripasso method as used in Valpolicella (Veneto) of Italy. The wine was ‘passed over’ Cabernet Sauvignon skins in the appassimento style. This style imparts complexity and intensity. It was aged in French oak. Rich flavours of currants, dark chocolate, black berries, and tobacco, with a hint of vanilla.
Bliss Mendocino California Cab 09. Elegant, almost delicate yet with robust fruit, ripe blackberries, leather, dark chocolate, spice & soft tannins. Balanced. Charming.
